This presentation will review the basics of understanding the HLA system and its contribution to problems in the clinical treatment of patients due to HLA antibodies.

Objectives:

At the end of this session, the learner will be able to:

  1. Understand the nomenclature, structure, and function of the HLA antigens.
  2. Describe the methods used for identification of HLA antigens and antibodies.
