 Education Committee

The Education Committee develops and plans educational member benefits such as webinars, podcasts, regional meetings, etc.

  • Webinars – free to members, these series occur in the spring and fall
  • Regional Half-Day Seminars – held in areas not geographically near the Annual Meeting
  • Monthly Podcasts – created to supplement other BBANYS education and enhance the website education library
  • Journal Club – literature review and discussion of a hot topic in transfusion medicine and blood banking
  • Town Halls – Q & A sessions addressing current issues in the profession

     Marketing, Communications & Sponsorship Committee

    The Marketing, Communications & Sponsorship Committee oversees management and development of the following:

    • Website Review – coordinate with other committees to each review their own website content
    • Social Media Sites (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn) – develop and coordinate posting schedules
    • Newsletter – BBANYS Quarterly, primarily focused on technical articles, member spotlights, etc.
    • Monthly E-Blast Updates – sent at the beginning of each month highlighting upcoming activities
    • Sponsorship & Advertising Programs – primarily promoted for the Annual Meetings with benefits year-round

     Membership/Nominations Committee

    The Membership/Nominations Committee develops policies and programs to help BBANYS membership grow and remain a vital organization. The committee is also responsible for recruiting nominees to fill open Board positions. These are some of this committee’s responsibilities:

    • Mentorship Program – assist those new to the profession by sharing your expertise
    • Young Professionals Program – coordinate social and networking events for young professional residents and medical technologists to discuss career development
    • Help develop and review member benefits driving member recruitment and retention
    • Work with the Marketing, Communications & Sponsorship Committee on a social media plan for member recruitment and engagement
    • Coordinate the Barb Gonnella Fostering Future Leaders Award
