Speaker Bio:

Dr. Friedman is the medical director of transfusion services and director of special hematology at NYU Langone Hospital-Long Island. He has over 25 years of experience in the field and is a member of various organizations, including BBANYs, as a past president and current newsletter editor, AABB, and SABM. He has extensively published in leading journals and is interested in PBM research.

Abstract:

I am the medical director of transfusion services and director of special hematology at NYU Langone Hospital-Long Island. I have over 25 years of experience in the field and I a am member of various organizations, including BBANYs, where I am a past president and current newsletter editor, AABB, and SABM. I have extensively published in leading journals and am interested in PBM research.

Objectives:

1) List different types of VET platforms (TEG, ROTEM, Quantra).

2) Know differences between conventional coagulation tests (aPTT, PT, etc.) and VET.

3) Know basic interpretation of TEG results.
