Robert A. DeSimone, M.D., is Medical Director of Transfusion Medicine and Associate Professor of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Weill Cornell Medicine in New York City. He received his M.D. from Stony Brook University School of Medicine in 2013. He completed his residency training in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology at Weill Cornell Medicine in 2017 and a fellowship in Transfusion Medicine at the New York Blood Center in 2018. He joined the faculty at Weill Cornell Medicine in July 2018. Rob has over 60 peer-reviewed publications and textbook chapters. His areas of interest include blood donor-component-recipient linkages and quality improvement in transfusion medicine. He is a passionate and effective teacher and is passionate about improving transfusion medicine. Rob has a strong commitment to BBANYS, having served on the Board of Directors since 2019, first as Secretary and now as President-Elect. He has served in many leadership roles for BBANYS, including the 2023 Annual Meeting Chair. In addition to his involvement in BBANYS, Rob is very active within the Association for the Advancement of Blood & Biotherapies (AABB). Rob attributes much of his success in transfusion medicine to his wife, Wendy, and two children, Morgan and Dylan. |
